§    ABSTRACT: The use of indices is an usual practice, in the studing intercropping efficiency compared with sole crop. The problem is the distribution of these indices, making the analysis of variance not always be exact. The analysis of variance precision for three indices (RC –Competitive Ratio; K –Relative crowding and A –Agressivity) were compared by simulated data obtained in computer. These precisions were compared with the standardizations by the mean of the LER indice, inter and intrablocks, too. Results show that analysis of variance was completely imprecise for the RC and K indices, and it didn’t happen for the other studied indices.

§    KEYWORDS: Indices for intercropping; standardizations by the mean; analysis of variance precision.
