USING MANTEL’S APPROACH TO TEST MULTIVARIATE SURFACES HOMOGENEITY IN GEOGRAPHIC VARIATION STUDIES

José Alexandre F. DINIZ-FILHO[1]

§    ABSTRACT: The Mantel test for matrix comparison has been widely used in Population Biology to analyse spatial patterns. In this paper, we show how it can be used to test the null hypothesis of homogeneity of surfaces in geographic variation studies. A simple example using the geographic variation of morphometric characters of Lutosa brasiliensis (Orthoptera: Gryllycridoea: Henicidae) is given.

§    KEYWORDS: Mantel; randomization; geographic variation.
