§    ABSTRACT: Reliability of an item is the probability of it to perform well its functions under specific conditions. In particular, the item must behave adequately, as foreseen in the project, during a period of time predetermined. Reliability also takes into account that the item must take care of systemic tasks not directed related to its internal working. With this amplified focus we can talk about reliability of systems. The modeling of electrical engineering system, as well as establishment of parameters that involve the functioning and protection of such systems, are the basic motivation for this work. This paper introduces general techniques usable in the assessment of reliability of systems. These techniques are then applied to systems of generation-transmission-distribution of electric energy.
