Optimum experimental plot size: II. Comparison of estimation methods in real examples with Wheat and Cassava

§    ABSTRACT: The experimental plot size should be property estimated to reduce the experimental error and to increase the quality of the inferences. This paper aimed to compare four methods to estimate experimental plot sizes: the linear response plateau, the method of the maximum curvature of the coefficient of variation seen as function of the sample size, the method of visual inspection of the maximum curvature and the method of the maximum curvature, using uniform assays of wheat and cassava. It was verified that the optimum experimental plot sizes presented great variations within the methods used, specially for the method of  visual inspection of the maximum curvature..
